Slats

Modern slat paneling, in many variants.

Variants

Slats come in every wood variant; Log, Stripped Log & Planks.

Beyond the woods there are six more that keep their source block's properties, so the bright ones still give off light:

  • Glowstone
  • Sea Lantern
  • Ochre, Verdant and Pearlescent Froglight
  • Magma (still damages you, and still wants a pickaxe)

Placing Slats

Slats can be placed in two different ways, depending on where you click:

  • A wall gives wall-hugging slats, which work like vines. Each face is independent, so a one-block-thick wall can carry slats on both sides, and you can build a panel up a wall face by face.
  • A floor or ceiling gives a standing screen instead, which runs along whichever axis you're facing.

Wall Slats have no collision, so you can walk straight through them.

Vines

Use a Vine on slats to grow them over, for an overgrown look. The overlay is tinted to the biome like ordinary vines.

Shears strip the vines back off and return the vine.

Crafting

Slats are cut on a stonecutter, eight at a time. A log cuts into all three of that wood's slat variants directly, so you don't have to strip or plank it first; stripped logs and planks each cut into their own.
